BASF one of the world's top 50 companies

In 2008, BASF has once again achieved very high ratings in the US business magazine Fortune's annual rankings, taking 2nd place in the global chemical company category. Other top 10 chemical company candidates include DuPont (1), Bayer (4) and Linde (7). BASF took 4th place in the "world's 50 most admired companies" category, and was again voted one of the world's top 50 companies, achieving 41st place (last year: 39). Other German companies among the top 50 are BMW (9th), Siemens (43rd) and Lufthansa (48th). The computer and music giant Apple took the number one spot.

Fortune magazine and the Hay Group of business consultants surveyed some 16 000 managers and analysts from 26 countries for the eleventh time. Selection took place in three categories: the world's top 50 companies, world's most admired companies, and top performers per industry. Companies world-wide with more than 12 billion dollars in sales were eligible for selection.
