Gulfood 2008

From the 24th to 27th of February BASF Construction Chemicals UAE participated in the 13th Annual Gulf Food, Hotel and Equipment Exhibition, held in the Dubai Exhibition and Conference Centre.  Established in 1987, Gulfood as it is known is the region’s largest and most important industry event of the year and is a strategic platform for buyers and sellers to conduct direct business face to face.  The exhibition is a showcase for manufacturers, distributors and suppliers from around the region representing all of the key sectors within the food and hospitality trade.

Ian Smith, Regional Business Systems Manager for Performance Flooring took this opportunity to showcase the Ucrete and Mastertop 1324 and 1325 systems. “It was the first time BASF Construction Chemicals has participated in such a trade fair and we were delighted by the interest shown by Clients and End Users alike.  It was encouraging to receive so many visitors from across the region involved with all areas of the food preparation industry.”

The Technical Services department made a suit of samples representing the range of solutions available with Ucrete and Mastertop systems, the resulting combination of attractive visuals and floor finishes were instrumental in initiating in-depth conversations with potential customers.

As Gulfood is a regional event the Dubai marketing team enlisted the help of sales colleagues from around the E-EBA/A region.  Representatives from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa were on hand to assist on the stand.  This co-ordinated effort was another key reason so many guests from outside the UAE visited the display.

Delegates from more than 30 different countries visited the stand over the four days, during which time Ian smith was proud that “we were able to demonstrate the BASF reach by having regional staff available to deal with customers from within their own markets”.

The Performance Flooring sales team is now eagerly following up on the leads generated and looking forward to next years show.
